Super Chocolate Chip Cookies

The traditional chocolate chip cookie is the standard, the classic, the cookie of all cookies. Well, the perfect accompaniment to a glass of cold milk, just got a make over! I have been experimenting in the kitchen with integrating healthier, superfood, ingredients into my baking. These super chocolate chip cookies are a nutritional twist on the original. They include whole wheat flour, raw sugar, oats, dark chocolate, and flaxseed…yes, don’t reread that, it was flaxseed!

Chai Spiced Poached Pears

Finally, a dessert you can feel good about eating while still satisfying your sweet tooth. Lately, chai tea has been a must for me in the afternoon. I took those flavors and applied them to these chai spiced poached pears. They make for a healthy, but still tasty and spicy dessert. The pears are naturally sweet and delicious. With a few added chai spices and a little bit of sugar, this is the perfect, light dessert.

Cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger are the spices I chose to incorporate into my chai spice. These spices give the pears a warming glow.

Dried Cherry and Almond Shortbread Bars

I am going to stay at my friend’s house over the weekend, so I wanted to make her an extra special hostess gift. I think she will love these dried cherry and almond shortbread bars. Instead of shortbread cookies, which take some time to roll out and cut, making shortbread bars is a quick and easy alternative. They are the prefect holiday hostess gift!

Chocolate Ganache Tart

This chocolate ganache tart with fresh raspberries is simple, elegant, and oh so chocolatey. It is the perfect dessert to serve for a special occasion where you want chocolate to the the star. Whip up one of these for Valentine’s Day and your stomach will be full of love.

This chocolate tart is made from chocolate crust with a velvety ganache filling. The bright raspberries cut the rich chocolate and add a nice balance to the richness of the tart.

Peach Almond Tart

I was at the farmer’s market last week and despite being in late summer/early fall, there are still quite a few peaches at the farm stands. I thought I would include this peach almond tart recipe on my blog to inspire someone to use up the last of the season’s fresh peaches.

The star of this tart is undeniably the fresh peaches, which are unbaked and placed on top. My favorite part of any pie, however, is the crust. This almond crust is flaky and delicious. The mascarpone cheese adds a creamy filling and pairs perfectly with the sweet, ripe peaches.
